The biggest drawback to living in the frigid north is ice. I slipped on a patch of ice today while walking out of the museum. I am sore all over, especially my right side which I landed on, and I can’t barely use my right hand. This happens at least once a year. God it’s painful! If I have to go to the doctor, it will be worker’s comp. I’d rather just see my own doctor and not have to go through all the paperwork for worker’s comp.
I began my life in the South and for five years lived as a closeted teacher, but am now making a new life for myself as an oral historian in New England. I think my life will work out the way it was always meant to be. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs; that's all part of life. It means I just have to be patient. I feel like October 7, 2015 is my new birthday. It's a beginning filled with great hope. It's a second chance to live my life…not anyone else's.
My profile picture is "David and Me," 2001 painting by artist Steve Walker. It happens to be one of my favorite modern gay art pieces.

Just settleing down for my daily dose of Joe. Get some ice grippers for your shoes, and a cane with an ice grip wouldn’t hurt. You have to bite the beast that bit you. Use some ice at short intervals, then some heat. Stay safe over there. You’re not in Alabama any more. Jim
