Yesterday was not nearly as bad as I feared, but that’s mostly because I skipped most of the sessions/meetings I’d signed up to attend. I ended up walking back to the museum with my boss, who also didn’t attend anything during the morning. I was able to get some work done in my office that I will spend today finishing up. We walked back down for lunch, and I went home sick after that. I woke up yesterday with a migraine, and it never got any better. If we had not had that staff-wide meeting at the university yesterday, I’d have called in sick, but since my boss knows how much I hate this annual meeting, it would have looked too suspiciously convenient. While I don’t think he ever would, I don’t want him to ever think I am using a migraine to get out of something.
I’m just glad this week is almost over. The next three weeks are going to be incredibly busy. Next week I have a speaker coming in that I’ll have to entertain. The next week, I am going to a workshop in Norwalk, CT. The week after that, I have another speaker who will be coming in. She’s a VIP guest, so I will be even busier taking care of her during her time in Vermont. The entertaining of my guest speakers is exhausting because I have to be “on” the whole time, but I love doing it. All of my speakers so far have been exceptionally nice people and are a joy to get to know. So, while the next three weeks are going to be busy, I’m not dreading them.

Hey Joe,
Just saw a news report on NBC Nightly News (anchor Lester Holt) that the FDA has approved a new Pfizer nasal spray for migraine sufferers. Sounds like it won’t be available until July, but supposedly it provides relief in about 30 minutes. Cheers!

I saw the same report. I perked up when I heard Lester say he would talk about it after the break. I will be asking my neurologist about it when I see her in May. I have no doubt that it will be very expensive, but my neurologist is good at getting medicines approved by my insurance and knowing about the patient assistance programs.

Joe,
One other thing, and I’m slightly hesitant to mention this. Preface to say, I follow another blog by a guy named Bruce, who is probably (I’m guessing) around twice your age and going through various serious health issues of his own, who has expressed to his blog followers basically, “Don’t send me your health advice.” I respect Bruce. And I want to respect you and what your going through with your migraines. Having said that, and wishing you would experience some relief from your migraines, another thing I read about 1 1/2 weeks ago in my local newspaper was whether certain oils, such as olive oil, might somehow alleviate migraines. I’m not an endorser of “Woo” (think Gwyneth Paltrow), but when I read this article on plant oils, I also thought about you and your migraines. I have no other way to communicate with you other than your personal blog, so, I just wanted to mention this to you, just in case you wanted to do Google research on the topic (I’ll repeat: “Woo” is something that I have no interest in. I reject it). If you feel the need to delete this comment after you have read it, awesome! I just wanted to mention “the oils”, just in case it’s helpful (I have no idea). Again, cheers!

Thanks for letting me know. I don’t mind people giving me health advice. I usually keep up in the latest migraine news, but I can’t know everything. I’ll Google this about the oils. Thanks.
