Emily Dickinson

A little madness in the Spring
Is wholesome even for the King,
But God be with the Clown —
Who ponders this tremendous scene —
This whole Experiment of Green —
As if it were his own!

A Light exists in Spring
Not present on the Year
At any other period —
When March is scarcely here

A Color stands abroad
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.

It waits upon the Lawn,
It shows the furthest Tree

It almost speaks to you.

Then as Horizons step
Or Noons report away
Without the Formula of sound
It passes and we stay —

A quality of loss
Affecting our Content
As Trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a Sacrament.

    It's no wonder she is considered one of the grand ladies of poetry. (And the illustrations don't hurt.)Peace <3Jay

    Thanks, Jay. Dickinson is one of my favorite American poets. She also appropriate for a GLBT blog, since many consider her to have been a lesbian. Whether that is true or not, I don't know. She was such a recluse and I only know of one relationship and that was with a man, but who knows. (I'm glad you liked the pics also)
