It’s been a slow work week because there hasn’t been a lot for me to do. Today though will probably be different. I have several tasks that I need to complete today. I have two tours to do today and a class to prepare for tomorrow. I had my work from home day yesterday because I have to be at the museum tomorrow, my usual work from home day, to teach said class. I would rather stay home and crawl back into my bed, but alas, I have to go to work.
I began my life in the South and for five years lived as a closeted teacher, but am now making a new life for myself as an oral historian in New England. I think my life will work out the way it was always meant to be. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs; that's all part of life. It means I just have to be patient. I feel like October 7, 2015 is my new birthday. It's a beginning filled with great hope. It's a second chance to live my life…not anyone else's.
My profile picture is "David and Me," 2001 painting by artist Steve Walker. It happens to be one of my favorite modern gay art pieces.

Joe, greetings from Fort Lawn, South Carolina! My friend Jim’s funeral is today and the chance of rain is 90%. I saw a hilarious billboard yesterday. “Life is short. Get a divorce.” Rev. Billy Graham is celebrated in Charlotte the way Dr. M L King Jr is—lots of streets and pictures from crusades of his in the 1950’s are displayed extensively in the airport. I’m quite certain the Lord’s name is constantly taken in vain given to the massive construction and rebuilding of the airport.
South Carolina clearly does not wish to enforce the American’s With Disabilities Act. The original destination was a lovely bed & breakfast with a 250 year heritage. I managed to make it up the porch and inside. When the innkeeper arrived he helped me find a room on the ground floor of a motel. But I don’t have an ADA compliant bathroom…I’m ready for Christmas with my own version of there is no room at the inn.
I fly back to Indy tomorrow. My biopsy is Tuesday am. It will be wonderful to have this funeral and that surgical experience complete. Peace!

What a lovely piece of French style 18th century furniture. I wonder where the pic was shot.
