Pic of the Day

About Joe

I began my life in the South and for five years lived as a closeted teacher, but am now making a new life for myself as an oral historian in New England. I think my life will work out the way it was always meant to be. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs; that's all part of life. It means I just have to be patient. I feel like October 7, 2015 is my new birthday. It's a beginning filled with great hope. It's a second chance to live my life…not anyone else's. My profile picture is "David and Me," 2001 painting by artist Steve Walker. It happens to be one of my favorite modern gay art pieces. View all posts by Joe

This brings to mind the oft mentioned difference between the naked and the nude. The two here have their socks on and they are naked. And you see they’re not really engaged with each other. So starting their day perhaps? Or ending it? Bed is rumpled so getting up and already got socks on? And lastly from an aesthetic viewpoint who has ever seen a sculpture or even paintings with a guy’s socks on…So I say they’re naked. What say you?

Of nude or naked, they are definitely naked. However, as the late great southern comedian Lewis Grizzard once said, “In the south there’s a difference between ‘Naked’ and ‘Nekkid.’ ‘Naked’ means you don’t have any clothes on. ‘Nekkid’ means you don’t have any clothes on and you’re up to somethin’.” So here’s my question to you: are they naked or nekkid?

We might disagree on this one, but I go for “naked” since they seem uninvolved with each other at this point. Probably already has happened, but I don’t see anything coming here….

Zoom in on the laptop screen. From the look of it, they just made an OF (or something similar) video and the one on the laptop is probably editing it. The guy on the screen is the same one who is sitting up with a remote control in his hand. I think definitely nekkid, if they are now naked, they were just nekkid. 😂
