About Joe

I began my life in the South and for five years lived as a closeted teacher, but am now making a new life for myself as an oral historian in New England. I think my life will work out the way it was always meant to be. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs; that's all part of life. It means I just have to be patient. I feel like October 7, 2015 is my new birthday. It's a beginning filled with great hope. It's a second chance to live my life…not anyone else's.   Well, that is a peachy view! How refreshing to find that on my phone when I finished with my MRIs! And OMG the hospital policeman stationed in the ER required several double takes to capture his glory! Unfortunately, he wasn’t there when I left, but hey, grateful for eye candy!

    Why are there policemen in your hospital? Is your society that violent? I don’t recall ever seeing a policemen in the hospital where I live in S W London.

      We usually have policemen at our hospitals around here, especially around the ER. People can get fairly violent in the ER, and one of the hospitals nearby in New Hampshire had an active shooter situation a few months ago. Sadly, American society is that violent, and it seems to be increasing with the far right politics that are becoming the norm within the Republican Party.

      Joe’s answer is on the money. The one thing I would add is that folks with narcotic addictions regularly show up in ER’s as well. It really is that different here. I have a son who lives in SW19 with his family. He regularly comments he doesn’t have to worry about school shootings!
