Devastated

I woke up this morning just before they called Wisconsin for Trump. I cannot convey how devastated I feel right now that the news has called the race for Donald Trump. How can so many Americans be so FUCKING STUPID? When I saw the results, a wave of nausea hit me immediately. I honestly don’t know how democracy will survive in the United States, or how the country itself will survive another Trump administration. I hate this fucking country! That’s all I can say right now.  I hate this fucking country! I am completely devastated and am going to just crawl back in bed. This is a nightmare.

I began my life in the South and for five years lived as a closeted teacher, but am now making a new life for myself as an oral historian in New England. I think my life will work out the way it was always meant to be. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs; that's all part of life. It means I just have to be patient. I feel like October 7, 2015 is my new birthday. It's a beginning filled with great hope. It's a second chance to live my life…not anyone else's. My profile picture is "David and Me," 2001 painting by artist Steve Walker. It happens to be one of my favorite modern gay art pieces. View all posts by Joe

I concur. This will be a nightmare. But now we’re part of the resistance.

Joe – devastation is how many of us feel. I share your anger. I’m seriously pissed at a large chunk of American voters. How could that many actually want that man back in the White House, with all the damage and destruction that will surely follow?

One simple reason: he spews the same hate they spew. It’s the same reason the Nazis came to power and slaughtered millions of Jews. It’s utterly disgusting!

Exactly Joe. Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany and two months later the Reichstag Fire led to him declaring an emergency and he began his arrests of political opponents and the rest is history. Let’s pray that won’t be repeated here.
