About Joe

I began my life in the South and for five years lived as a closeted teacher, but am now making a new life for myself as an oral historian in New England. I think my life will work out the way it was always meant to be. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs; that's all part of life. It means I just have to be patient. I feel like October 7, 2015 is my new birthday. It's a beginning filled with great hope. It's a second chance to live my life…not anyone else's. My profile picture is "David and Me," 2001 painting by artist Steve Walker. It happens to be one of my favorite modern gay art pieces. View all posts by Joe

I wonder what gift is nestled in those pubes, behind that flexed knee? Oh taste and see!

I soooooo agree, Bruce. I usually like to say his knee’s in the way. I’d love to taste for prolonged periods of time: you know, to conduct a control sample and then the real thing with just the one subject. Not very scientific I suppose.

sounds like an experiment any gay man could enjoy! The position of the knee is perfect–you get a sense of his cock but…..

Joe, there is an article on the NYT website today which states that personal ads are still a ā€œthingā€ in Vermont…

They may be, but I never buy a newspaper and there isn’t ever much to the apps or dating sites.

The emptiness of dating apps was very much highlighted. I’m pretty sure there are not a lot of gay personal ads either. Vermont’s archaic character got much notice. I should write an article about the Silver Daddies website, aka ā€œSugar Daddies to you.ā€ I did have a month fling with a former Calvin Klein model…talk about making people jealous! His father was British so he had a plummy accent as well!

I met my second partner through an ad he placed in the NUVO weekly here in 1995. I jokingly think that we’d still be together if I never moved in with him. Sixty miles each way to work just put a huge strain on me, and his house was full of mold! I’m glad to say that he and his husband are friends. It helps that his husband isn’t interested in classical music, and although he’s retired from college teaching, his life still revolves around the cello.

But I have some ink in my veins Joe. I worked at the Courier Journal in Louisville after college, before I started law school. It was an eye opening experience…and I had no talent as a book reviewer. I had a much better experience as a free lance film critic for the Texas Triangle, a now defunct LGBT owned weekly newspaper in Austin TX. Austin had four different art houses then and I rather enjoyed the perks of being a voice for our community. My love of movies remains strong.

Although the only print news I get in my weekly New Yorker, I still love to go to the cinema. I’m going to see Bonhoeffer today with a friend, and I’m taking 3 of my grandchildren to see Gladiator II on Saturday. (I have actually gotten to where I prefer my two newspapers on my iPad. So much easier to forward articles to friends, etc.)

Be well! I hope you enjoy the notches in my bedposts!
