About Joe

Unknown's avatar
I began my life in the South and for five years lived as a closeted teacher, but am now making a new life for myself as an oral historian in New England. I think my life will work out the way it was always meant to be. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs; that's all part of life. It means I just have to be patient. I feel like October 7, 2015 is my new birthday. It's a beginning filled with great hope. It's a second chance to live my life…not anyone else's. My profile picture is "David and Me," 2001 painting by artist Steve Walker. It happens to be one of my favorite modern gay art pieces.

The New Apartment

Saturday, I signed the lease for my new apartment. In about three weeks I’ll be moved in. There’s a lot to do before then. There’s a lot to pack but there’s probably even more that I’ll just throw away.
The best part is that I can get away from my downstairs neighbor. Everyday she gets a little crazier. When she first moved in, I thought she was very friendly, and she didn’t have much money so I did a few nice things for her. Every time I did something nice she took advantage of my kindness.  Then I realized the nice woman I’d originally met was not so nice. She complains about everything and never sees any of it as her fault even though she brings a lot of it on herself. I’d give examples but I don’t feel like typing all night long: I’m just glad to be moving away from her. She’s a leech.
With my new apartment, I’ll be buying some new furniture. I know I need a new couch. And since I’ll have a dining room, I probably should get a table. A person in town has a couch that converts into a bed that looks nice. I plan to go and check it out. They only want $25, so I want to see it before I buy it. It will go in the guest bedroom/office. I’m really looking forward to this move.

The Gateway

Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (KJV) ( Matthew 7:14 )

Eternal life is considered to be narrow because there is only one way, through believing in Christ Jesus. Unfortunately, as the Bible says, only a few will find it. The road is difficult because it may mean we lay down our pride, take the high road, and serve others with love. But, oh how blessed we are that there is a road!

Moment of Zen: Football

Today is the last bowl game I care anything about: Southern Miss v. Tulane. I know the National Championship is also coming up but that’s between LSU and Clemson, and I’m sorry if my next statements offend anybody, but I hate LSU more than any other college team. Clemson is not far behind either. So today will end my football watching season. We will start again in the Fall.

Happy New Year 🥳

Last night I went to New Queers Eve, which was hosted by my friend Emoji Nightmare and her co-host Nikki Champagne. We had a blast ringing in the new year. The night was filled with drag and burlesque shows. There were two DJs, DJ Vu, who is incredibly cute, and surprisingly the DJ from The Stonewall Inn. They were both fantastic. And oh my we’re there some hot guys there last night, and when the clock struck midnight the clothes started coming off. There was this one guy who didn’t need to take anything off because it was all already on display. He had on tight shiny black pants. The material must have been very thin because you could clearly see the veins in his erection. Needless to say, it was fun watching all the guys.
