Winter Is a Drag Ball: Broadway Bound

I’ve heard it’s the biggest event in Vermont. I would not disagree. The Winter Is a Drag Ball had tons of people gathered at Higher Ground in Burlington. Hosted by the LeMay Sisters, there are numerous drag and burlesque performers to entertain the crowd and plenty of dancing too. I ended up getting there an hour late because the person who I was going with couldn’t get her act together on time. Which means, I missed the LeMay Sisters main performance and I missed the performance of the drag queen I had dinner with a couple of weeks ago. We did catch a number of the acts, and we had a great time.

If you remember, the theme was Broadway Bound, a cross between Broadway and BDSM. I wore the outfit below and kept a small leather paddle in my pocket. I loved the ball gag on the shoes. Not everyone dresses up, but a good 80 percent do. I don’t know when I’ll ever wear the below outfit again, but it sure was fun to get dressed up and it not be Halloween. Mine wasn’t very Broadway character inspired, but there were lots of cats, some Hello Dollys, and a lot of Cabaret inspired clothes. The costumes went from the subdued (or dapper as someone described me) to the absolutely wild. There was a costume parade and prizes. The king of the Drag Ball was basically wearing a leather thong. He had a fabulous ass and one of the biggest packages I’ve seen outside of porn.

Anyway, it was lots of fun. Next year will be the 25th Anniversary so who knows what the theme will be. I’m sure it will be fabulous, and I can’t wait to go again.

Who Argue

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? (KJV) ( Isaiah 45:9 )

How do you treat God when things in your life don’t go according to your plan? Do you argue with Him using logic, blame, or coercion? Maybe you thought you would have had kids at your age, or perhaps a loved one was supposed to be on the earth longer. Your Creator is all powerful and all knowing. Is your faith strong enough to trust in His power and His divinity?

Quite honestly, I don’t know if mine always is. What about you?

A Lot Going On

Today will be a long day, but once it is over it’s time to relax. Today, we put the final touches on the exhibit, then we will have the grand opening and reception. It should be quite the opening, unlike any we’ve had before. This exhibit is for our bicentennial, after all. It’s a huge exhibit and unlike anything we’ve ever done before. The whole exhibit harkens back to the older days of museums when they were largely cabinets of curiosity. We have a lot of curiosities on display, and they are fascinating objects.
Tomorrow will be a day of fun. I have nothing planned during the day, but tomorrow night is the annual Winter Is a Drag Ball. It’s one of the largest social events in Vermont. It is certainly the largest LGBTQ social event. However, it is more than just LGBTQ, it is also our allies. About 1000 people show up and many come in costume or drag. This years theme, and each year there is a theme, is Broadway Bound, a cross between Broadway and BDSM. My costume is all black with leather and sequins and my shoes are fabulous. I hope it will be a good time had by all.

Sorry

I’m a bit embarrassed by my rant yesterday. The stress of the week was getting to me. This exhibit has been a monster. It’s the most objects we’ve ever exhibited, and it’s the biggest exhibit we’ve ever had. And yes, I’m tired of feeling sick but I’m much better than I was a month ago. The physical therapy and exercises she gave me have also helped. I’m also embarrassed at how tired I’ve felt the last few weeks. Yesterday, I fell asleep at my desk for at least 30 minutes. I know because an email I had not seen before I dozed had been sitting there for 33 minutes. My boss either never noticed or was too kind to say anything. I was totally embarrassed nonetheless. Yes, it’s been a rough week.
Oh, and Happy Valentines Day! I hope it’s a lovely one for you.
