Sickly Sunday

I stayed in bed most of yesterday. I woke up with a terrible cough and headache. I was even experiencing body aches. I felt like I was coming down with a summer cold. I felt awful. By the end of the day, I was feeling some better. Hopefully, I will be feeling much better today. Have a lot I need to get done. All in all, it will probably be a busy week. There is just too much to do to be sick.

I began my life in the South and for five years lived as a closeted teacher, but am now making a new life for myself as an oral historian in New England. I think my life will work out the way it was always meant to be. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs; that's all part of life. It means I just have to be patient. I feel like October 7, 2015 is my new birthday. It's a beginning filled with great hope. It's a second chance to live my life…not anyone else's. My profile picture is "David and Me," 2001 painting by artist Steve Walker. It happens to be one of my favorite modern gay art pieces. View all posts by Joe

Yo Joe, I’ve been following you for awhile and you’re sick an awful lot for someone so young. When I was your age I caught a bug maybe every few years and even in the 90s when I worked in high tech in a big open plan office (a dozen and a a a half people, no cubicles)and all the 20somethings were always sick, 40something me rarely caught it. I’m guessing your immune system sucks :D. You might look into a program to strengthen it which involves eating right (organic produce, free range animal protein, low in sugar and saturated fat, proper amount of good fat like olive oil, no prepared food, cut out fast food and down on restaurant food, wear a mask in public (not work, out and about and especially on public transport), lots of onions, garlic, vitamin C and other nutrients, get your B12 and D levels checked as well as your thyroid to rule out deficiencies. I’m 66, traveling in Australia, and so far have been exposed in 2 months to 5 sick people as roommates, and I spend a lot of time in public spaces and on the train/bus, and have yet to get sick. When I feel wiffy I make spicy garlic chicken soup, and get lots of rest. Your immune system works while you sleep. One rest day can head off getting sicker and actually make work easier because when you go back you’ll be 100% not draggy for weeks with a low level bug.

I’m hoping you feel up to snuff pretty soon Joe as I know you’re definitely a busy guy. I wish the guy posted was you as I’d LOVE to get to know him very well.
