I had a migraine all day Monday, but it was tolerable most of the day. However, by the time I went to bed it had begun to intensify. This migraine woke me up several times during the night. When it woke me around 3 am, I wasn’t able to fully fall back to sleep. I eventually got up at 4 am. I ended up calling in sick to work. The slightest amount of light was causing more pain. I kept my blinds closed, but light was still coming in. Eventually, I put on a sleep mask, which seemed to help. I slept most of yesterday. Each time I woke up my migraine seemed better, but that didn’t last long. It was a miserable day. Thankfully, I am feeling better this morning.

So sorry you experuence this. I am grateful mine are now rare. I almost get nauseated thinking of the pain you are enduring, as nausea was a by-product of my migraines.
Have you had them all your life?

I have had them all my life. They are just more frequent now.

Wow… My oldest and dearest friend has also suffered them all her life almost daily. I hold her in high admiration as one would never know from her demeanor and active lifestyle, almost always with a smile. She’s is also a teacher, but of kids, and does it with those headaches! (I teach uni.-level and older – much more bearable headache-wise.) Anyway, respect to you and empathy. Am enjoying your posts: written and pictoral.
Cheers from Germany.

I learned a long time ago, I just had to push through the pain most days. Occasionally, like yesterday, I reach a breaking point, and I just can’t go further. It’s not easy living with chronic pain. Yesterday’s migraine was so bad partly because of the light sensitivity. I could barely tolerate any light. It made my eyeballs hurt.

I honestly admire you. My migraines were never often enough to get me to a breaking point. I only realized how much of a wimp I was/am in the face of this kind of suffering because such pain has me writhing on the floor. Fortunately they do go away relatively quickly except for the impaired vision, which takes longer to return. But it does, so I really have nothing to complain about. Anyway…

Thank you for your kind words. Pain, even pain that doesn’t last long, is not something to consider yourself a wimp over. Besides, all of us deal with different issues all the time. Mine happens to be migraines. You learn to live with it. It’s our only choice. By the way, I admire your friend for teaching kids while suffering from chronic migraines. The worst period of headaches for me was when I was teaching teenagers. I’m not sure how I survived. Thankfully, my present job is much quieter.
