Moment of Zen: New Fallen Snow

I know that a lot of people in areas that receive a lot of snow hate the stuff, and I will admit, when I have to shovel snow, clean snow off my car, or get out in the snow, I am one of them. However, there is something so beautiful and peaceful about pristine white snow that has just fallen. It blankets everything in its soft beauty. Everything seems quieter and more peaceful. It never lasts long, but it’s those first few moments when it is undisturbed that are breathtaking.

I began my life in the South and for five years lived as a closeted teacher, but am now making a new life for myself as an oral historian in New England. I think my life will work out the way it was always meant to be. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs; that's all part of life. It means I just have to be patient. I feel like October 7, 2015 is my new birthday. It's a beginning filled with great hope. It's a second chance to live my life…not anyone else's. My profile picture is "David and Me," 2001 painting by artist Steve Walker. It happens to be one of my favorite modern gay art pieces. View all posts by Joe

Those guys must all have blue balls from being out like that! I could help warm them, I’m sure!

I love snow for the pure joy it brings to my grandchildren! I love how it covers so many surfaces and makes them look magical rather than mundane….

I’m still breathing peaceful thoughts about the results of my biopsy last week…”No cancer or signs of infection” I suppose the letter came earlier in the week but I didn’t check my mailbox until Thanksgiving Day, so I sure had something to be thankful for!!

Snow is such a gentle reminder of the dynamics of creation…humans can’t possibly make snow, we are not in charge of the weather, and very little in reality.

December arrives tomorrow…let us be glad as we start Advent and prepare for Christmas.

    Peace!
