Finding a Rhythm Toward Recovery

I started physical therapy yesterday, and while I’m still dealing with quite a bit of pain, I’m hopeful for the first time in a while. The exercises they’ve given me seem to make a real difference—small movements, but with noticeable results. That feels like a very positive sign. I’m also finding that the medication I’m on is finally starting to help in a meaningful way.

For now, I’ve worked out a schedule that lets me stay productive during the day with only minimal pain, which is a huge relief. I’m not sleeping the mornings away anymore, but I am finally getting better rest at night. My routine still starts on the couch—it’s the only place I can reliably fall asleep—but once I’ve settled and my body has relaxed, I can shift to my bed and stay there through the night.

These little improvements give me hope that I’ll be able to return to work on Monday without too much trouble. One step at a time, but it’s progress—and I’ll take it.

About Joe

I began my life in the South and for five years lived as a closeted teacher, but am now making a new life for myself as an oral historian in New England. I think my life will work out the way it was always meant to be. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs; that's all part of life. It means I just have to be patient. I feel like October 7, 2015 is my new birthday. It's a beginning filled with great hope. It's a second chance to live my life…not anyone else's. My profile picture is "David and Me," 2001 painting by artist Steve Walker. It happens to be one of my favorite modern gay art pieces. View all posts by Joe

Good news re your situation Joe, I hope your physical therapy will help get you back into your regular life soon.

More pics like the one of Billy Coogan.

Despite the name, Billy Coogan is in fact Czech and as you say, is part of the Bel Ami herd of lovelies.

I wish Bel Ami would use more Eastern European names for their models. Giving them Western European names has always struck me as silly.

Joe, I agree entirely with your thoughts.

I suspect Bel Ami use West European names because much of their sales income is derived from North America. I hear time and time again that handsome young uncut East European models are much sought after there. Their “awkward” Slavic names might be difficult for many Americans to recall, compared with say “Billy Coogan”.

I agree that Eastern European names would be difficult to recall, but a few of them still have some names that are somewhat Slavic. I know that Bel Ami an, I think, William Higgins blocks their websites from the Eastern European countries that these guys are from to help protect their real identities. I have to admit though that I’ve always wanted to visit the Eastern Europe, especially the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Slovenia where many of these guys are from, but not just because I am attracted to Eastern European men, but also because of the beauty and history of these countries. Friends of mine have done study abroad’s in Prague and loved the city.
