Aggravation

I considered writing about what has been making my life so stressful the last few days, but I’ve made the decision to not talk much about my job anymore. The whole thing that’s happened has pissed me off more than anything else. I now know for certain that I work with a couple of “malcontents.” I can do my job without them. It would be nice if we could work together as a team, but they have made it clear that they are not team players. Thankfully, I will be the only one working today.

I know I am damn good at my job. I get told regularly by people I work with outside the museum how much they enjoy/appreciate/are impressed with the job I do. I get the same response from my boss, who is the only opinion at the museum that matters. I have a little over three weeks of vacation I need to take before the end of May, so for the next six weeks or so, I will be there when my job requires me to be, but otherwise, I’m going to enjoy my time off.

I have no plans to go anywhere or really do much of anything. I really don’t have the spare cash to do so. However, I can enjoy spending my days with Isabella, even if all she will do is wake me up at 5 am and sleep away the rest of the day. I might just take follow her example and take some cat naps myself.

Today’s Plans

The picture above is my plan for today. It’s not only been a busy week, but it’s also been a busy three weeks, and I need a day to just be completely lazy. I hope you all have a good Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Home

It’s so good to be home and back to sleeping in my own bed. I really did not like the hotel I was staying at. The front desk people were rude; they acted like it was a burden to help you. They never cleaned my room, even though their description of the hotel says, “We clean rooms daily.” Hilton hotels have become no better than a run-down Holiday Inn. The last time I stayed at a Hilton, I found a bedroom slipper in my bed, which was disgusting since it meant they had not changed the sheets. Also, the elevators did not work. When I got there, only one of the three elevators was actually in operation, and it didn’t always stop on your floor or take you where you wanted to go. No matter which floor you were going to, it always made a stop at the lower lobby and the second floor. I have no idea why it always went to these floors because no one ever got on or off at those floors. Also, the beds were not comfortable, and the pillows were flat.

The best part about being home though is not just my bed but being back with Isabella. She met me at the door when I came home and has not let me out of her sight since. She’s been very chatty too. She’s normally a very quiet cat, but she meowed for an hour or so once I got home. I guess she wanted to tell me she was glad I was home and that I should not leave again. I’ve had cats in the past that won’t have anything to do with you when you have been away, but not Isabella. She lets you know how happy she is that I am back home.

I am off work today and plan on being very lazy. I just want to enjoy being at home with Isabella. I’m sure I will watch Picard and The Mandalorian again at some point. I might even watch a movie. I’m pretty sure I will take a nap at some point.

Tired

In my “Moment of Zen: My Type” last Saturday, I mentioned my first crush, and someone asked me to write about him. I had every intention of doing so in this post; however, after driving down to Connecticut on Monday and being in a workshop yesterday afternoon, I was exhausted. It also didn’t help that I’d eaten at a truly awful sushi restaurant for dinner. Anyway, the point is, I was just too tired to really write anything last night, and I didn’t have time this morning. I have to be at a day long workshop today, and without Isabella waking me up, I’m able to sleep a little extra. After getting ready and having breakfast, there just isn’t much time left before I have to leave. I will, however, get to the story of my first crush at some point, just be patient.

Thursday

Sitting in front of my laptop this Thursday morning, I have been trying to figure out what to write, and I can’t think of a single thing. Only two things are running through my head: the new episode of Star Trek: Picard is out on Paramount+ and the chorus to a Lorrie Morgan song, “Except for Monday,” which goes like this:

Except for Monday, which was never good anyway
Tuesday, I get a little sideways
Wednesday, I feel better, just for spite
Thursday and Friday take too long
Before I know it, Saturday’s gone
But it’s Sunday now
And you can bet that I’m alright.

Thursday and Friday often seem like they take too long. I’m pretty sure this Thursday is definitely going to take too long, as I am in meetings all day.

Sleeping In

This weekend, I have been sleeping in. I’ve even gone to bed early. I got up at 4 am to feed Isabella but returned to bed and slept another hour or two. I’ve been feeling a little rundown. I’m not sure what’s going on, but I haven’t had a lot of energy the last few days. Thankfully, I have today off work since it is spring break, and we always get the Monday of spring break as a holiday. I even feel like going back to bed right now, but I’m going to have a cup of tea and make something for breakfast. That usually wakes me up, and I feel a bit better and slightly more energetic. Have a great day, everyone.

Twitter Shock

WARNING: Links in this post are NSFW.

I was scrolling through my Twitter feed and came across a picture of a really handsome guy with a gorgeous body covered with the perfect amount of silky dark fur. It was the guy in the picture above. His name is Bruno Duarte Vincent (Twitter: @lobo_carreira or Instagram: @belowdeckbruno). He was apparently on the Bravo show Below Deck. However, none of that’s the point of telling you about Bruno. The point is the first picture I came across, which was not the one above. It was one of Bruno lying on a bed, naked. When I first looked at the picture, I thought, “This would be a great picture to use on my blog. His arm is covering anything that would be too inappropriate.” Then, I took a closer look. It was not his arm; it was his penis. 😳 So obviously, I could not post that picture, but you can easily go to his Twitter and find it. I just had to laugh when I thought of how I could mistake his penis for his arm. My only defense is that I only glanced at the picture at first and was not wearing my reading glasses.

Hump Day

As I sit here drinking a cup of tea and watching the premiere of the third season of The Mandalorian, I don’t really have much to say. We got several inches of snow yesterday. The snow is always beautiful when it first falls. That rarely lasts very long. I have a class to teach today, but otherwise, it’s just another work day. I hope all of y’all have a great Wednesday and get over the hump of this week.

Waking Up

This morning and several mornings recently, I have found it difficult to wake up and get out of bed. Usually, when Isabella wakes me at 4:30 or so to feed her, I’m up and raring to go. This morning, I got up to feed her, and then went back to bed and even hit the snooze button when my alarm went off. It’s not like I’ve been staying up late or not getting enough sleep lately. I went to bed last night a little after 9 pm. I’m not sure what the issue is, but I don’t like it. I want to get back to my normal morning routine. In the last several years, I’ve become a morning person for the first time in my life, and I like having the extra time before work. Hopefully, my sleep patterns will return to normal soon.

Presidents’ Day

I wish I could say that today is a holiday for me. It’s not. We never get Presidents’ Day off. It’s just another work day. I have to sit in on a class today. I’m not teaching the class, like I usually do when classes are at the museum, but I’m going to sit in and be there to answer any questions they may have about our current exhibit. I’d given this class a tour of the exhibit Friday, and now, I’m going to answer questions that may come up or have come up as they prepare their assignment about the exhibit.

Yesterday, I taught a workshop at the museum. It went remarkably well, I think. Not everyone showed up, but most of them did. I wish I had not had a migraine still, but I persevered. At least the migraine wasn’t as bad as the one I had Saturday night. Yesterday’s was more like the aftershocks that come after a major migraine. I didn’t know until recently that these “aftershocks” had a medical name, a postdrome headache. There are also headaches that come before a major migraine called prodrome headaches. I don’t think I’ve ever had one of them, but I usually have a postdrome headache. I used to call them shadow headaches because they felt like a lingering shadow of what the headache had been.
