Happy Fourth

Yesterday, Daddy and I were out riding on the boat when we came across a kid, he was probably 18, whose jet ski had broken down. Daddy offered to pull him back to his friends. There’s a sandbar where they all congregate. The kid was tall, very tan, with dark hair and very handsome. He had a nice butt too. Anyway, his friends showed up to help pull him back so we didn’t take him very far. His friends were cute too.

Happy Fourth of July!

Home

By the time this blog posts this morning, I will in the air on my way home. My parents know I am coming home, but the rest of my family doesn’t know. It’s going to be a big surprise. July 4th has always been a big holiday for my family and we will have a big BBQ on that day. I’m really looking forward to it.

Being home also means that I have limited internet access. I will do my best to post,  but if I don’t, don’t worry. It just means that I didn’t have internet access.

The Beach

My parents are leaving Saturday on a cruise of the Gulf of Mexico. They are sailing to a couple of ports on the Mexican Riviera. I wish I was going on a cruise, really it wouldn’t matter to where. I’d just like to be on a boat for a few days. But no cruise is in sight for me. I’d at least like to go to the beach. The closest beach is Cape Cod and that might not be too bad. It looks like, however, that the only trip I’ll be making any time soon is down to Worcester, Mass. for a workshop. I go down on Tuesday and it hasn’t been decided yet if I will spend the night or go and come in the same day. It’s a three hour trip down and back, so that would be having me in car for 6 hours, not something I relish. Anyway, I’d rather go to the beach.

Traveling

A coworker and I had to drive down to Cape Cod yesterday for museum business. I would have taken a nighttime walk on the beach, but it started raining, so I just turned in for the night. I did watch part of the Patriots game, but the NFL doesn’t really hold my interest. What did good my interest was the beautiful waiter at the restaurant where we ate. He was tall, dark, and handsome, just my kind of man. I’d have loved to have had him for dessert, but instead I had to settle for a toffee cake which was as delicious as I assume the waiter would have been.

Back in Vermont

I made it home shortly after midnight. Lots of bumpy plane rides, and then rain on the way home. Needless to say, I drove very carefully home. The closer I got to home, the more snow was on the ground. It nearly covered the road, so it’s a good thing I knew where I was going.

Back in Alabama

I made it back to Alabama at about 8:30 last night. The National World War II Museum took longer than I had expected. It was extremely crowded and took about 3 hours to go through and that was going through fairly quickly. If I’d waited to see all the films and did all the interactive stuff, it would have taken all day. As it was, I was in a hurry to get back home, plus it was after lunch before I even made it through the line to get in. Needless to say, I was hungry when I got out of there. And while New Orleans is renowned for their food, I was in no mood to fight NOLA traffic and parking to eat in town, so I drove to Slidell and ate there.

I made a few stops on my way home. I’m looking to buy an Apple Watch Series 2, but all the Best Buy’s are sold out and I can’t seem to find anywhere else that has them. I stopped in four or five Best Buy’s stores between Louisiana and home. Nothing.

Finally though, after I stopped a few times for gas and to eat dinner, I made it back to my aunt’s house. I was exhausted. So I just went to bed early.

Back to Alabama

I’m making a stop in New Orleans on my way back to see the National World War II Museum. I’ve been there when it was the D-Day Museum but I haven’t seen the newer exhibits that make it about the whole war. Part of this side trip will he for work, they are actually paying me to go and take lots of pictures. Then it will be the long drive back to Alabama.

Cajun Country

I’m down in the bayou as they say. I’m visiting my best friend in Louisiana for a couple of days. I’ll head back to Alabama on Thursday. It’s a long drive down but the traffic was mostly good.

On my way down I listened to Heidi Cullinan’s Short Stay. It’s part of the Love Lessons series and was pretty good. If you’ve read and liked the rest of the series, you’ll like this one too.

Out in the Boondocks

I feel so cut off from the world down here. The Internet is spotty. My parents turn it off most of the time, which is really annoying. I do almost everything on my iPad and nearly every app calls for the Internet. It’s only two weeks of this. I can survive it. It doesn’t make it less annoying. Tomorrow, I am taking my mother to the cemetery then we are doing some last minute Christmas shopping. Then tomorrow night, I am going to get a new iPhone. I’ve had a 5C iPhone for a few years now and it’s time for an upgrade. This will be my Christmas present to myself.

Going Home

All my Christmas gifts have been sent home, some are even already wrapped. I leave Wednesday flying home, and I am already dreading it. My mother, without consulting me, has already made plans for the whole time that I am home. She called last night with a list of places I had to go and a list of things I had to do. It gets exhausting, and I’m not even home yet. I’m fortunate to have my parents though, even if they drive me crazy. I still love them.
