I began my life in the South and for five years lived as a closeted teacher, but am now making a new life for myself as an oral historian in New England. I think my life will work out the way it was always meant to be. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs; that's all part of life. It means I just have to be patient.   I cannot understand how any of your readers, or people who follow this website, could in good conscience ever vote Republican ! It’s too great of a disconnect for me to wrap my mind around. That said, this morning I’m on the road in the so-called Heartland ( in central Illinois) dismayed by the number of GOP signs I see along the way. Here’s hoping we will not be overtaken by a Trump coup over the next two days. Good luck to all of us.
